DEAR BLACK FATHERS
Dear Black Fathers hosts a variety of workshops and social/virtual gatherings to create spaces for collaboration, conversations, and building social capita. Join the movement to "empower a generation of fathers, who in turn will empower their families, to work collectively, responsibly, and effectively toward creating safe, unified, sustainable, and prosperous communities."
DARE 2 HOPE
Dare 2 Hope's mission is simple: "To prevent as many suicides in youth and young adults as possible." Founder Sarah-Ashley Andrews visits schools around the Philadelphia region to educate students on the importance of living mentally well, resolving conflicts, and staying true to themselves.
STRAIGHT ROAD OR THE STATE ROAD
Straight Road or The State Road seeks "to enhance the academic achievement, self-esteem, social competence, as well as the avoidance of high risk behavior in adolescents, and adults." Join founder Reginald Smaller as he shares his powerful story that has evolved from repeated incarcerations to becoming a positive role model for at-risk youth.
CADEKIDS
"Founded in 1987, CADEkids helps K-8th grade students make good decisions by teaching them how to control their impulses and avoid conflict, violence and drug use. In 2018-19, [they] served 10,800 students (in the classroom with the teacher present) in 35 schools: 6,900 in [their] core prevention programs and 3,900 through problem gambling awareness lessons."
KHADIJA BOWENS FOUNDATION
Khadija Bowens, a stand-out athlete for University City High School and Temple University basketball, started her foundation to bring communities together and raise awareness on the devastating impacts of neighborhood violence. The Khadija Bowens Foundation was founded in honor of Bowens' mother, whose life was lost due to violence.
